On January 15, students from Assumption School participated in a student tour and career presentations at Imperial Oil Cold Lake. Hosted in conjunction with Imperial Oil and Seven Lakes Oilfield Services, students toured various sites. They heard presentations on oil production, careers in the oil sector, scholarships and opportunities for Indigenous students.

Bridge to Campus is an organization making mentorship accessible to grade 11 and 12 students who hope to attend university. Connecting high school students to university mentors can equip them with the confidence and knowledge they need to build a seamless transition into university.

TeamUP Science’s Computer Science Workshop (CSW) is designed for high school students interested in exploring the field of computer science and software development!
CSW is taking place on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy at the University of Alberta!
The day will consist of presentations, a hackathon-style competition, lunch & prizes! The cost to attend is $20 and the deadline to register for this event is Friday, January 23, 2026. Students are eligible to apply for bursaries.
Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Students participated in a Ribbon Jacket Workshop at Assumption School today. Wearing a ribbon garment is a proud expression of Indigenous identity and a way to honour one's ancestors and heritage. Each garment tells a story through its unique design, fabric, and the specific colours of its ribbons. The colours can represent elements of nature, spiritual beliefs, or significant life events.

❄️ Winter Weather & LCSD School Days ❄️
As winter weather sets in, we want families to feel informed and supported when conditions change. Our Transportation Department monitors road conditions, visibility, extreme cold, and weather warnings early each morning, with conditions assessed daily at 6:00 a.m.
On winter weather days, bus cancellations may occur, while schools remain open, and learning continues for students who can attend safely.
When morning bus cancellations occur, an afternoon transportation update will be provided if conditions are expected to change. In cases of severe or sustained extreme cold, bus cancellations may remain in place for the full day.
Timely updates are shared through the Bus Status App and social media channels.
