Subsidiarity and the Role of Government reminds us that decisions should be made by those closest to the situation, with support from larger systems when needed.
March’s Catholic Social Teaching calls us to recognize the importance of local voices, shared responsibility, and collaborative leadership. It teaches that while governments and institutions play an essential role in supporting the common good, they should not replace the wisdom, initiative, and dignity of individuals, families, and communities.
In our schools, Subsidiarity is reflected when we empower students, families, staff, and school leaders to contribute to decisions that affect them. It encourages us to work together, and supporting one another at the appropriate level. Solutions are thoughtful, responsive, and rooted in community.

Congratulations to Matthew in Grade 9 and Alexa in Grade 8 for being drawn as the winners of our Small Things with Great Love draw for the month of February! Matthew and Alexa each won a gift card in recognition of demonstrating small things with great love through their actions at Assumption School.
As we wrap up the month of February, we move from highlighting February’s Catholic Social Teaching of Economic Justice to March's Catholic Social Teaching of Subsidiary and the Role of Government. This teaching outlines the critical task assigned to government officials and leaders of recognizing, respecting, reconciling, protecting and promoting the rights and duties of citizens.

Doing Small Things with Great Love — Every Day!
At Lakeland Catholic, safety and belonging are lived daily in our classrooms and hallways.
A greeting by name.
An invitation to belong.
A kind word.
Standing beside someone who feels alone.
Because every child is created in the image and likeness of God, dignity is inherent and belonging is intentional.
This is how we form hearts in Christ — by doing small things with great love, every day.

Wear Pink on Wednesday, February 25!

In Miss. Murray's Grade 7 Science class, students explored heat transfer in a hands-on lab, roasting marshmallows while testing conduction on a hot plate, convection with a tealight candle, and radiation using a candle warmer. It was amazing to see curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking in action as they connected their experiments to real-world science. Learning has never been so sweet! 🍫

Crusader Parents - here is your WAAG!

Today we mark Shrove Tuesday, a time to pause, reflect, and prepare our hearts for the season of Lent.
As we enter this sacred season, we are reminded:
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10
May this season draw us closer to Christ and guide our schools in faith, hope, and love.
