Portage College will be holding their Spring Open House events, taking place across campuses in early March. Spring Open House provides an excellent opportunity for students to connect with faculty, student advisors, and support staff while learning more about our programs, student services, and hands-on learning opportunities.

Spring Open House Schedule
March 2 – Lac La Biche Campus | 6:00–8:00 PM
March 3 – St. Paul Campus | 6:00–8:00 PM
March 4 – Cold Lake Campus | 6:00–8:00 PM

Each Open House will include:
Program information booths
Faculty and student advisors available to answer questions
A complimentary meal for attendees
On-the-spot application support (application fee waived)

Parent Week-At-A-Glance

On January 15, students from Assumption School participated in a student tour and career presentations at Imperial Oil Cold Lake. Hosted in conjunction with Imperial Oil and Seven Lakes Oilfield Services, students toured various sites. They heard presentations on oil production, careers in the oil sector, scholarships and opportunities for Indigenous students.

Thank you to Randy Janvier, Ray Jackson and Edward Houle from Seven Lakes Oilfield Services and Julie Waine from Imperial Oil, as well as various employees who shared their career journeys with our students.

Bridge to Campus is an organization making mentorship accessible to grade 11 and 12 students who hope to attend university. Connecting high school students to university mentors can equip them with the confidence and knowledge they need to build a seamless transition into university.

TeamUP Science’s Computer Science Workshop (CSW) is designed for high school students interested in exploring the field of computer science and software development!

CSW is taking place on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy at the University of Alberta!

The day will consist of presentations, a hackathon-style competition, lunch & prizes! The cost to attend is $20 and the deadline to register for this event is Friday, January 23, 2026. Students are eligible to apply for bursaries.

Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Cold Lake Community Learning Centre is offering free English language programs this winter, including beginner classes and conversation opportunities to support English language learning, and additional language programs.

Students participated in a Ribbon Jacket Workshop at Assumption School today. Wearing a ribbon garment is a proud expression of Indigenous identity and a way to honour one's ancestors and heritage. Each garment tells a story through its unique design, fabric, and the specific colours of its ribbons. The colours can represent elements of nature, spiritual beliefs, or significant life events.

The finished products turned out beautifully! Thank you to Cold Lake First Nations for leading our students through this workshop.

TeamUP Science’s Health Sciences Workshop (HSW) is designed for high school students interested in exploring the diverse fields of health sciences!

HSW is taking place on Sunday, February 1, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Edmonton Clinic Health Academy at the University of Alberta!

The day will consist of presentations, activities, lunch, a guest panel of professionals across health science disciplines & prizes!

The cost to attend is $20 and the deadline to register for this event is Friday, January 23, 2026. Participants are eligible to apply for bursaries.
