As a reminder, beginning Monday, October 6, all Lakeland Catholic schools will be closed due to strike action.

No classes (Pre-K to Grade 12)
No online learning or instruction
No busing or supervision
No extracurricular activities or events

Day care and out-of-school care will remain open only for families already registered. All other families must make alternate childcare arrangements.

We recognize the strain this places on families and thank you for your patience, understanding, and prayers. In this time of uncertainty, we hold fast to our faith and trust that God will continue to guide and strengthen our school communities. We pray for a fair and close resolution.

🍎 Happy World Teachers’ Day
Today, we celebrate the hearts and hands that shape minds, spark curiosity, and inspire students to grow in knowledge and faith.

Especially at this time, we recognize the immense value they hold in the lives of children, families, and communities. We keep teachers in our thoughts and prayers, grateful for the difference they make each day.

"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it."

Staff at Assumption Jr/Sr High School participated in a Community Circle on Monday before National Day of Truth and Reconcilation Day. This activity gave teachers the opportunity to reflect on the far-reaching impact of residential schools on children, parents, grandparents and the community.

Thank you for the Cold Lake Food Bank for hosting our tour last week and for the 3rd annual Hungry for Change collaboration. The check presented was for $ 3,024, and students also donated 170 kilograms of food. Way to go, Assumption!

What a Season!

Yesterday marked the end of a beautiful junior high cross country season, and we couldn't be prouder of our Crusaders!

Under sunny skies, our athletes gave it their all — with many achieving personal bests and top finishes.

A huge thank you to the LSAA for organizing yet another incredible event and providing such a memorable experience for all Lakeland runners.

Way to go, Crusaders! 💙🩶 #CrusaderPride

Today, students in Mrs Sicard's Bio 20 class participated in X-Stream Science with the help and support of LICA (Lakeland Industry and Community Association).

This program gives students hands-on field experience in biology and chemistry following an in-class lesson on the same.

Scientific protocols are followed to conduct water quality tests and to collect benthic macro-invertebrates. Students then got the chance to analyze the health of the stream based on their findings.

THANK YOU LICA for leading this excellent experience for our students!

In September, our Lakeland Catholic schools spent time reflecting on the Catholic Social Teaching of Human Dignity—reminding us that every person is created in God’s image and deserves respect, care, and compassion.
As October begins, our focus turns to The Common Good. This teaching calls us to look beyond ourselves and work together so that every person has the chance to thrive.

What an incredible day on the trails yesterday! We’re so proud of all our Crusaders who participated in the mountain bike race — their energy, determination, and team spirit were on full display.

Our students had an amazing time riding and representing our school, and we want to give a big thank you to the LSAA for putting together such a well-run and exciting event!

Today, Assumption Jr Sr High School students completed a Journey to Reconciliation. Students walked outside learning about Truth and Reconciliation, the meaning behind Orange Shirt Day, and what they can do to support efforts across the country in a spirit of unity and peace. Students were treated to Taco in a Bag for lunch as they learned about the history of Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. Looking good Crusaders!

Today, two of our three Lakeland Catholic Schools in Cold Lake, received concerning phone threats. Out of an abundance of caution, St. Dominic Elementary School, Holy Cross Elementary School and Assumption Jr/Sr High School moved into Emergency Response Procedures.

All students and staff are safe, and our emergency protocols were followed with care and professionalism. We are especially thankful to the RCMP for their diligent response, ongoing support, and clear guidance as we worked together to keep everyone safe. We continue to work in collaboration with them.

We are grateful for the compassion shown across our school communities.

AJSH, you showed up, and our community was right there with you as we broke last year's record for funds raised for the Cold Lake food bank! The final number will be announced tomorrow, along with the weight of our food donations. Thank you to our community for supporting these students in their endeavor to stand behind the Cold Lake food bank and ensure no one has to go hungry.
