Nearly 700 students and staff gathered, along with the board of trustees, senior admin members, the superintendent and Fr. Nong, for Ash Wednesday liturgy. Students received ashes, marking the beginning of the Season of Lent and the importance of reconciling with God. Students were actively involved in the liturgy and music ministry, guiding us in love and a shared sense of purpose.

Students in Religion 8 enjoyed a "Scripture Scavenger Hunt" on Friday. The challenge activated a hands-on exploration of the Bible and rich dialogue about themes and meaning behind the chosen scripture pieces.

Congratulations to Asher Breidenbach, Sam MacDonald, and Erica Parker for participating in the Northern Alberta Junior Honour Band this weekend. What a remarkable achievement! We are so proud of your commitment to musical excellence!

Lenten Project
Assumption School has kickstarted our Lenten project a little early this year. Students and staff are raising awareness about the local Stepping Stones' Building Better Futures campaign. Our goal is to raise between $1500 (single) - $2500 (double) to sponsor and furnish a shelter room in our name. This includes soft furnishing, decor, and amenities. The school will be hosting a variety of fundraisers until the end of the Lenten season, with all proceeds going to the shelter. Students have already raised $194.92 by purchasing heart shaped pop it keychains to help "Spread Love".

At LCSD, we are called to love and serve one another, and Pink Shirt Day is a beautiful reminder of this mission. Today, our schools came together to reflect Christ’s teachings through acts of kindness and care. When we lead with compassion, we create a community where everyone belongs. School Ski Trip Success: AJSH students and staff hit the slopes at Kinosoo Ridge!
Teacher Leanne Johnson is extending a huge thank you to AJSH staff and families for helping make this year's school ski trip a success! Despite the recent deep freeze, the school saw 289 students hit the slopes, as soon as the frigit temperatures broke. The day was filled with laughter and excitement as students discovered the thrill of skiing. A particularly heartwarming highlight was introducing the sport to newcomers from Brazil, India, Philippines, Mexico and the Dominican Republic, who experienced skiing for the first time. Special recognition goes out to our Inclusive Education team, whose dedicated support ensured that every student enjoyed the experience to the fullest, reinforcing the importance of equity and inclusion in our school. Kudos to everyone involved for turning a cold day into a warm memory of fun and learning!

Thank you Olesia for sharing information about Ukraine with us today. Culture club enjoyed delicious perogies and cabbage rolls while learning about the history behind these dishes. We also learned about homemade Ukrainian jewelry and what school was like there in comparison to Canada.
